Local markets and pop up shops – why you need to be there!

It’s no secret, I LOVE markets and pop up shops. Being there, selling there, talking about them. I feel like they bring together the community in a fantastic way, and they’re full of movers and shakers. I fully believe in supporting local – and that extends to the whole of Canadian makers and creators. And these markets are an awesome way to meet the ones who make the things you love, and to discover new and exciting brands.

In the last week I’ve popped into to markets/pop up shops.

The first was the Modern Kids Collective – featuring VonBon, Minimoc, and Whistle and Flute. To say I knew I was going to bounce out of there with a good haul was an understatement. I ended up with three shirts and a pair of shorts – though I swear I could easily have gotten four times that amount. The talent these makers have is unreal.

Today I stopped in at the Local Love Market on Vancouver’s North Shore. I have seriously never been to a more beautiful location for a market. It was windy and cold outside, but I quickly fell in love with the inside. Vaulted ceilings with exposed wood beams – I wish I’d gotten photos! Alas, I got there with only 30 minutes to spare before they closed, and spent my time chatting to my fellow makers and buying all the goodies. So, here’s a flatlay of the treasures I found instead.Local Love Market

A springtime dress from my girl Jess at Emerson Apparel

Daffodils from Codi-Lynn from Creative Wife and Joyful Worker

Bibdana from Little Moore Shop

Pie in a Jar – SO yum.

Bebe De Luxe bath soak – I bought two packs of this because me and my baby girl use it every night in place of soap!

Not pictured – Spark Kombucha! Because I drank it before I could take the pic.

There’s a few markets coming up that we’ll be at, selling our beautiful bamboo baby wraps.
