Beluga Baby Carriers use eco-friendly and sustainable fabric, with full transparency on sourcing and fabric content.
All Beluga Baby products are handmade in Vancouver, BC by workers being paid a living wage.
We endeavor to use up as much of our scrap fabric as possible. From creating swaddles to drool pads, as much of our small “scrap” is used.
Beluga Baby partners with several nonprofits, lending libraries, educators, and birth workers each year to donate and support their causes.
Making a product - especially one for babies and their parents - is a huge responsibility. These are humans in the most delicate stage of their life. Not only that, but their caregivers are susceptible to so much advertising for unneeded or bad quality products. When I was creating Beluga Baby, I wanted to be better from the start.
During my research, I not only realized how toxic the process of fabric manufacturing could be on the planet, but that those toxins could potentially be nuzzling my baby’s precious skin. I wanted to use the best fabric and processing I could find, not only to ensure a future for my daughter, but also so I could be confident that what was touching her skin had the least toxins possible.

Let’s talk about the fabric. Not all bamboo is created equal.
No fabric is entirely, 100% environmentally friendly. Whether it’s the way it’s grown, harvested, or processed, there is some impact on the environment. We ultimately chose this fabric because bamboo:
Bamboo is a hugely sustainable plant crop that uses so little water compared to trees or cotton. However, the processing of bamboo into a fabric leaves something to be desired. We balance that by ensuring we use bamboo that’s been tested for the use of harmful chemicals, both regulated and non-regulated, which may be harmful to human health.
Years after the launch of the Beluga Wrap, we designed and launched our Beluga Buckle, a carrier for babies 7-50lbs. And, of course, we wanted this new carrier to reflect the same standards of ethics and sustainability as our wraps!

We endeavor to use up as much of our scrap fabric as possible. From creating swaddles to drool pads, as much of our small “scrap” is used. Then, we offer our other small pieces to craftspeople and artisans who wish to create!
Beluga Baby partners with several nonprofits each year to donate and support their causes. Past organizations include Mamas For Mamas, BC Women’s Hospital, and various NICUs across North America.
We also seek to assist underserved communities have access to babywearing through donations of carriers to Lending Libraries, Educators, and Birth Workers.
Sustainability isn’t about perfection—it’s about all of us making small, meaningful changes that add up. We’re committed to finding better ways to do things and being transparent about our journey. We won’t always nail it, but what matters is that we keep trying. Because honestly? The world doesn’t need a handful of people doing it flawlessly. It needs all of us, doing our best, every day.
