There are several ways to safely get your baby or toddler on your back in the Cove Baby Carrier. To watch video tutorials, click here.
You can do a back carry with your baby when they are strong enough to support their torsoes and heads upright, by themselves, for a significant amount of time. This typicallly coincides with when they're able to sit unassisted. As a guideline, this can happen around six months of age.
There are several methods of getting your baby on to your back. For smaller babies (6 months to 18 months), follow the video tutorials through the link above. For babies who are walking and able to assist with getting on to your back, try this method!
Step 1 - Tighten your PFAs (the perfect fit adjusters at the front of the shoulder). This will keep baby more upright on your back.
Step 2 - For the shoulder straps, tighten between the underarm plastic buckle and the body of the carrier. Make sure the webbing between the underarm plastic buckle and the shoulder strap is all the way loose.
Step 3 - Buckle your waistband loosely at your waist, with the body of the carrier at the front.
Step 4 - Spin your carrier around to your back.
Step 5 - Sit on a soft surface (like a couch or bed) and invite your child to come for a piggy back.
Step 6 - Lean forward, and pull the body of the carrier up their back, like a backpack.
Step 7 - Put on the shoulder straps.
Step 8 - Do up the chest clip.
Step 9 - Reach under your arms and tighten the carrier by pulling up and forward.
Step 10 - You’re done!
