What's the best baby carrier for twins? Ask a mom of multiples

Probably one of the most frequently asked questions we get at Beluga Baby headquarters is, "Do your wraps work for twins?"

The short answer is that The Beluga Wrap was made for one baby at a time.

Why?

While some stretchy wraps claim to have the ability to carry two babies at once, the truth is that most parents find that the carrying window for two babies to be so small as to be hardly useful. In addition, getting two babies properly positioned in the wrap can be stressful, and is often uncomfortable. So, even wraps that can be used for two babies most often get used for one baby at a time. Don't believe me? Check out this forum!

So, I designed a baby wrap that is the comfiest baby wrap on the market, for one baby.

Does this mean that parents of multiples don't get to be in on the babywearing action?

No way!

Check out twin mama Jen Pistor's experience below:

Well known, Vancouver-based mommy blogger, Jen Pistor, has her hands full! The  fashion blogger from Vancouver has a five year old daughter, three year old twins, and a popular blog to curate. How did she manage in the first few years with two babies and a toddler?

She thought outside the box, and found the right tools to help.

Prepping for twins is a little different than preparing for a solo child. In fact, she didn't even think she was going to get a wrap or sling for her babies.

One-at-a-time baby carrying to the rescue!

"I didn’t think I liked babywearing until I wore this uber comfortable wrap by Beluga Baby" explained Jen in one of her blog posts.

While most mamas of multiples are trying to figure out how to carry both babies at the same time, Jen discovered that carrying one baby at a time allowed both children to get the cozy comfort of being held close, and still gave her the hands-free time she was craving. Plus, Jen discovered that carrying one baby allowed her to give her full attention to the other two children, while still giving the carried child the warm snuggles all babies crave.

"These wraps have been one of my absolute favourite and most necessary items for helping me with my twins. When one baby is tired and the other hungry, I can rock one to sleep while in the wrap and hold the other for a feed.  My girls absolutely love being worn and it gives me the satisfaction of being able to take care of them both at the same time."

One baby wrap or carrier means less schlepping all round

Getting a comfortable wrap for your twins also means less stroller. When you are carrying one baby, your hands are free to push a regular sized stroller, and that makes life a LOT easer. Twin baby strollers are more expensive, and can be just plain bulky to heft around both in and out of vehicles, and through stores (no more doorway madness!).

So, is it all worth it? You bet it is!

"Motherhood is hella hard.  It’s an endless amount of worrying, second guessing, and trying to figure out the right way to do things.  On top of that you are the resident chef, therapist, house keeper, grocery buyer, bug killer (unless my husband is home), laundromat, stylist, butt wiper, nose wiper, tear wiper, boo boo fixer, chauffeur, cheerleader, lesson teacher, ref, dream facilitator, dish washer, and the one who puts the toilet paper on the roll. You are the first one up and the last one to bed. But even with all that these three have my heart and every day I am in awe of how much I love them."
